Card Games
The game every Filipino knows and loves — now live online with real opponents, daily tournaments, and instant GCash payouts. Laro na sa Jilliace!
About the Game
Tongits — spelled Tong-its by old-timers, but you know what we mean — is arguably the most-played card game in the Philippines. Walk into any neighbourhood in Luzon on a Sunday afternoon and chances are you'll find a group of titos and titas gathered around a banig or a small table, cards flying, chips clinking. It's that kind of game — easy to pick up, hard to master, and always entertaining.
At Jilliace, we took everything people love about the traditional Tongits experience and brought it online without losing that familiar feel. You're still matched against real human players — not bots — and every hand plays out exactly the way you've always known it. The difference is you can play at 2 AM in your bedroom, bet in pesos, and cash out to GCash the moment you win.
Whether you've been playing since high school or you're just learning the ropes, Jilliace has a table for you. Beginner rooms keep stakes low so you can practice without pressure. Veteran tables crank up the tension with bigger pots and faster play. And if you're feeling confident, our tournament lobby is open around the clock.
How to Play
Not everyone learned from a lola. Here's a straightforward breakdown of how Tongits works so you're ready to sit down and compete from your very first hand on Jilliace.
Tongits is played by three players using a standard 52-card deck. The dealer receives 13 cards; the other two players get 12 each. The remaining cards form the draw pile in the center.
On your turn, draw a card from the pile or take the last discarded card. Arrange your hand into sets (three or more cards of the same rank) or sequences (three or more consecutive cards of the same suit). Lay down melds face-up on the table when you're ready.
Any player who has laid at least one meld can call a Fight at any point. When this happens, all players reveal their hands and compare the total point value of unmelded cards. The player with the lowest total wins.
The cleanest win is a Tongits — getting rid of every single card in your hand. This beats a Fight outright and earns you the maximum payout. It's the play everyone is gunning for.
An Escalera is a meld of four or more consecutive cards in the same suit. Landing one dramatically reduces your hand points and is one of the most satisfying moves in the game.
Hand Rankings
In Tongits, face cards and tens carry the highest point penalties. The goal is always to keep your unmelded hand as low as possible.
| Card | Point Value | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Ace (A) | 1 pt | Lowest penalty card |
| 2 – 9 | Face value | E.g., 7 of Hearts = 7 pts |
| 10, J, Q, K | 10 pts each | High-penalty cards to discard early |
| Complete Meld (set/sequence) | 0 pts | Melded cards don't count against you |
| Tongits (empty hand) | Automatic win | Overrides Fight result |
House rules on Jilliace follow the most widely accepted Tongits variant across Metro Manila and the provinces. All rules are shown in-game before every table starts.
Tournaments
Casual games are great, but tournament play is where the real excitement lives. Jilliace runs Tongits tournaments around the clock — from ₱20 buy-in micro events all the way up to ₱500 high-roller finals with prize pools that can reach ₱250,000.
The weekly Tongits Grand Champion event is the biggest regular tournament on the platform. It draws hundreds of registered players every Sunday, and the top three finishers walk away with serious cash. If you're a consistent player, it's absolutely worth entering. Even finishing in the top 10 nets you a tidy bonus.
Jilliace also runs special seasonal tournaments tied to Philippine holidays — Pasko, Fiesta season, and Buwan ng Wika promos have historically doubled the usual prize pools. Keep an eye on the promotions tab in your account so you don't miss out.

Pro Tips
Tongits isn't pure luck — experienced players consistently outperform beginners. Here are some principles that the top players on Jilliace apply in almost every hand.
Face cards and 10s are worth 10 points each. If they're not part of a meld within the first few draws, get rid of them. Holding a King and Queen with no sequence in sight is a recipe for losing a Fight.
The discard pile is public information. If another player keeps throwing out cards of a certain suit, they're probably not building a sequence there — which tells you something about their hand strength.
Calling a Fight when your hand total is still in the double digits is risky. A patient player who draws a few more good cards can come in under you at the last second. Only call when you're confident you have the lowest count.
If you're one or two cards away from clearing your hand, play for the Tongits win rather than calling a Fight. The Tongits victory earns a higher payout and is an automatic win regardless of what others hold.
In multi-round tournaments on Jilliace, chip management matters as much as card skill. Don't go all-in early in the elimination rounds. Protect your stack and let other players knock each other out first.
